Dear Cross-Country Coaches & Athletic Directors

It is my pleasure to invite your cross-country teams to the inaugural Robert Rizzo Relays on
September 18, 2010. In addition to fulfilling our desire to honor a longtime Jefferson County
coach and educator, this meet seeks to fill the void that was created by the cancellation of the
Brentsville Relays. Our meet will be similar in relay structure, mirroring the format of the popular
Knight Night Relays put on by Preston HS in Kingwood, W. Va.—except that our meet will berun in the daylight.

For those not familiar with this format, the Robert Rizzo Relays will involve four member teams,
with each runner covering a 1.5 mile loop on dirt and grass trails. An entry fee of $100 per team
will allow for an unlimited number of relay teams per school. Only the “A” teams from each
school, however, will be eligible for awards. Schools with an odd number of participants are
permitted to run incomplete exhibition teams.  More Information

Due to a scheduling conflict and installation of lights on our baseball field, the Mountaintop Combo at Preston High will now be held on Saturday, Sept. 11th (instead of Sept. 25th).  We appologize for any inconvenience they may cause your team.  More Information
2010 KNIGHT NIGHT XC RELAYS
The Preston High Cross Country team would like to invite you to the 4th Annual Knight Night XC Relays. The Knight Night XC Relays is a relay style cross country race modeled after the Brentsville Night Relays in Brentsville, VA. The event will be staged at dusk / dark and the course will be lit by the lights of Knights Stadium and the Dr. John Trenton Track & Field facility. In addition, supplemental lighting will be provided by via portable light fixures, tiki torches, glow sticks, fire trucks, and luminaries.

Four member teams will be racing approximately 1.5 miles each. Schools may run unlimited number of teams. Incomplete teams can run as many legs of the relay as they have available. For instance if a school has nine runners, they can run two teams of four and the one remaining athlete can run the first leg of the race. More Information
