The outstanding field event performance
of the day was by Damien Kolbay of Walkersville, who
pole vaulted 12' 10" for a new personal record.
This was an all-relay meet, with nine
events: distance medley (800, 400, 1200, 1600), shuttle hurdle (sprint and
hurdles combined times), 800 relay, sprint medley, (400, 200, 200, 800), 3200
relay, 1600 relay, high jump, shot put, and pole vault.
Boonsboro was third in boys with 38
points, followed by Thomas Johnson 35, Walkersville 32, Smithsburg 30, Linganore 28,
Derek Dye led the Middletown high jumpers
(Jason Schrum and Steve Hanson) to a 10-point win,
and the Middletown pole vaulters (Rick Kulina, Paul Vallette, and
Richard Lelvy) tied for first with Boonsboro) to
contribute to the team victory. Dye and Hansen also helped

Linganore's Danielle Price, Michelle Barrick, and Susan Ludwick were
on the winning distance medley and 3200 relay teams.
In field events, Kathy Messner of Catoctin won the girls high jump at 5' 6",
and Natalie Dye was the top girls pole vaulter at 7' 6".
