Dear Coaches: Men/Women
This is your invitation to
participate in the 2008 Charleston GazetteRelays, April 25th &
April 26th at Laidley Field,
A time schedule, scratch
sheet, pole vault certification sheet and entry forms with qualifying standards
are enclosed for both boys and girls. As you will notice, some formats have
changed. However, we will follow the West Virginia State Meet schedule of
events as closely as possible with some exceptions. Please note NF and WVSSAC
rule changes. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay for girls will be 102.5 meter: (S)
& (F) 13.0 meters: (B) hurdles 8.5 meters. height 30". Be sure your pole vaulters use the
proper pole and you complete the vaulter's form. This will be enforced. WVSSAC
and NF rules will apply. There will be a Jury of Appeals. We suggest you make
copies of your forms upon completing them and bring them with you. As soon
as possible, please send your eligibility sheet to the meet director.
Medals will be given to
the top six finishers in each event and plaques to the top three teams in each
division, both boys and girls, as well as the
We will have (2) two non-scoring fun events. The 4 x 100m King (200 lbs. and over) and Queen Relays. Medals will be given for the top three finishers.
Coaches meeting will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 25th under the South Stands next to the Field Manager's office. Please have your scratch sheets completed in order that we may get them quickly to the computer for seeding purposes. You may e-mail your scratches before 11:00 a.m. on Friday. E-mail them to

Please advise your contestants they are not allowed to wear spikes on the football
field or in the stands. This could lead to disqualification from the meet. When they are not competing, all competitors must remain in the North Stands. (Interstate side) Only contestants in uniform, officials and managers are allowed on the track or field. Managers must have some identification signed by the head coach to be allowed onto Laidley Field or they will be required to pay. We understand this has been a problem in the past. Time limits will be observed in the field events.
*Coaches Note: Please print the names clearly on the entry form: Last name first. followed by the first name. Be accurate in submitting times. heights and distances. We know pretty well what your kids do as we look at tri-state newspapers regularly. Therefore, be honest with yourself and the athlete. Don't do them a disservice. **Please do not leave spaces blank or write "fast or slow" otherwise we may throw them out.
Again, some Laidley Field
rules: all contestants are to be in the North Stands, No spikes on the
football field or in the stands. Tents are to be put up beyond the blue
railings and east of the 40-yard line. No alcohol, tobacco, glass containers,
and gum are allowed on Laidley Field premises. Parking will be on the outer
two adjacent lots to Laidley Field; only teams with school buses or team vans
will be allowed inside Laidley Field. As stated previously
