Hey Fellow Runners and Walkers!!!!

We only have one month till the WV 5K Championship Run/Walk. In case you didn’t know, the race is in Downtown Huntington on June 6, 2009. With your help and support, we can make this thing the biggest and most competitive race in years!!

The Herald-Dispatch has signed on as the title sponsor. This means that we should get incredible media coverage of this event. The best runners from the area are coming and this will be a great opportunity for all runners to reach a new PR. The course is USATF certified and it is about as flat as we could make it!! Check out the award structure. We have attempted to reach a large number of people and give new and unique awards to as many people as possible.

Top 3 Overall Male / Female

1^st Place -  $300 - Free pair Mizuno Shoes From Robert's Running and Walking Shop

2^nd Place - $200

3^rd Place - $100

Age Groups

1^st Place Age Group - $50

2^nd Place Age Group - $25

(Money awards will not be handed out to age groups under 18)

WV State Champions!!

1^st West Virginian in each age group will be announced as the WV State Champion for that age group and will receive a embroidered Mizuno backpack stating “WV 5K Champion”

Cup Competition

We have some really interesting cup competitions as well. Top 5 from a Team will be scored for each Cup.  The scoring will be based on places, see Cross Country Team Scoring. Runners must acknowledge which Team that they are competing for they are competing for when they register for the race. (No race day team entry, you may enter as an individual on race day, but not associated with a team)

Which business/organization has the fittest/fastest runners in the area?

Uniform Cup

Are you a man/woman in uniform (Firefighter, Police, Military, etc.)? Let’s get together and see who is the fastest!

Road Runners Club Cup

First of its kind in WV. Who is the fastest Road Runner’s Club in WV?!!? This cup brings bragging rights to whichever club proves its dominance! This will be the first time that all of the Running Clubs in West Virginia have battled it out to for the title of the fastest Running Club in WV!! This award will be based on the same criteria as the other cups. Runners must acknowledge which Running Club that they are competing for when registering for the race.

Prayer Cup

Who has the most Divine Intervention to get them to the finish line first? (Religious Affiliation)
