NEW CREEK, W.Va., Oct. 2 -- Frankfort senior Rebekah McBride knew last year's sixth-place finish in the AMAC cross country championships was just a fluke.

After Thursday's dominating performance at Keyser High School in this year's AMAC championship event, everybody else knows it, too.
McBride cruised to the win in 19 minutes and 58 seconds - nearly two full minutes faster than her 2008 performance - and beat her closest competitor by 36 seconds. Falcons teammate and freshman Katie Jan placed second among 45 runners in 20:34.

It was a nice 1-2 punch for Frankfort but not enough to capture the team title. Hampshire won its second straight title, scoring 33 points on the strength of taking places three through five and placing four runners in the top seven spots and the Trojans' fifth, Brooke Dorsey, 14th overall.

Southern Garrett was second with 62 points while Frankfort was a close third with 64 points. Fort Hill (109), Keyser (120) and Mountain Ridge (129) rounded out the team scoring.

Carissa Guyer led Hampshire's title-winning performance by placing third in 20:34, edged to the finish line by Jan. Danielle Lewis was fourth (21:20) and Sarah Burkett, who finished in 11th place last year, took fifth this time around by stopping the clock in 21:30.

Hannah Biser was Keyser's top finisher (6th place, 22:00) and Lindsey Smith led Southern Garrett with an eighth-place finish in 22:15.

Allegany junior Ian MacFawn continued an impressive stretch of running. After Saturday's dominant performance at Bull Run Invitational in Hereford - site of the Maryland state championships, where he's expected to contend for the Class 1A title - the two-sport Camper standout won easily in 16:59.

MacFawn, who finished second last year to Hampshire's J.P. Binotto, covered the close-to-5K course in 16:59 - a full 58 seconds faster than last year's effort. Trojan Nathan Whitacre was second in 17:21 and led Hampshire to its first-place finish in the team standings with 44 points.

Frankfort was second with 77 points and MacFawn's Campers were third with 81 points. Southern Garrett was fourth with 98 points while Mountain Ridge (109), host Keyser (134), Fort Hill (163) and Bishop Walsh (211) completed the team scoring.

Like MacFawn, Mountain Ridge senior George Hansrote had his second straight strong performance. Hansrote was the top Miner on the day, taking third place in 17:22.
