FROSTBURG — Mountain Ridge’s Hlynur Andresson and Frankfort’s Katie Jan won the individual championships, while Hampshire swept the boys and girls team championships in the Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships held Thursday at Glendening Park.

Andresson, an exchange student from Iceland, crossed the line at 18:23 to take the boys title and head the All-AMAC team, while Jan repeated as AMAC girls champion with a time of 20:45.

The Hampshire boys won the team championship with 51 points, followed by Southern with 65, Frankfort with 73, Keyser with 90, Mountain Ridge with 92, Fort Hill with 156 and Bishop Walsh with 215. Allegany was not involved in the team scoring.

In the girls meet, Hampshire ran away from the field with 38 points, followed by Southern with 73, Mountain Ridge with 84, Bishop Walsh with 103, Frankfort with 116, Fort Hill with 134, Keyser with 137 and Allegany with 215.

With Jan, a junior at Frankfort, repeating as champion, she was joined on All-AMAC by the remainder of the top 10 finishers on Thursday, with Hampshire’s Rachel Lipp finishing second at 20:54, Hampshire’s Sarah Burkett third at 21:24, Mountain Ridge’s Alexis DeVault fourth at 22:02 and Bishop Walsh’s Olivia Hager fifth at 22:26.

Rounding out the top 10 and the AMAC team were Southern’s Carisa Weissgarber, 22:32; Bishop Walsh’s Maggie Czapski, 22:35; Hampshire’s Ashleigh Martin, 22:45, Hampshire’s Mary Feaster, 23:18; and Fort Hill’s Chelsea Reikie, 23:30. Read More
