OAKLAND — Allegany’s Ian MacFawn won the boys race and University’s Lydia Martinelli won the girls in the Broadford Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday.
Preston won both team titles, the girls edging out University by a single point, 41-42. Hampshire was third with 57, Southern fourth with
103, Fort Hill fifth with 150 and Mountain Ridge was sixth with 166.
The Preston boys won with 56 points. Hampshire was runner-up with 80 and Allegany took third with 88. Mountain Ridge was fifth with 115,
Southern sixth with 122, Fort Hill eighth with 182 and Bishop Walsh ninth with 206.
MacFawn finished first among the boys with a time of 17:14, with Mountain Ridge’s Chuckie Upperman second in 17:21. George Hansrote of Mountain Ridge was fifth in 17:36,Martinelli won the girls race with a time of 20:05. Hampshire’s
Carissa Guyer (20:25), Sara Burkett (21:10) and Danielle Lewis (21:10) gave Hampshire three finishers among the top four.
Becky Verbonitz of Preston won the girls jayvee race in 22:29 and Mike Harrison of Preston was the boys winner in 18:46. Southern’s Aaron Shotwell was second in 19:58.
