North runners dominate Piedmont
By Andrew Mason (andrewm@herald-mail.com)
WOODSBORO, Md. — The Piedmont Conference girls race almost could have been mistaken for a North Hagerstown time trial Friday morning at the MVAL Cross Country Championships.
The Hubs ran all by themselves, sweeping the top five spots to post a perfect 15-point score. Middletown was second with 47.
"I am ecstatic. It was just amazing," North coach Lindsay Zerance said. "Everyone was into it, and they just fed off each other's energy.
"They looked great out there. I saw tiredness, but I saw toughness."

WOODSBORO -- Friday's MVAL boys and girls cross country championships seemed like a dress rehearsal for next week's Frederick County Public Schools Championships.
The county team favorites were among the contenders in Friday's meets at Woodsboro Park. Thomas Johnson's boys and girls swept their team crowns in the Chesapeake Division, defeating county rival Urbana in both meets.
On the Piedmont side, the boys meet turned out to be a typical Walkersville vs. Middletown sports matchup, with the Lions edging the Knights, 27-28, to repeat as conference champions.Read More
